Spitting Image presents 10th Wave
June 2021 Spitting Image Collective is teaming up with Minneapolis-based contemporary music group 10th Wave Chamber Collective to present world premieres by Spitting Image composers Katherine Bergman, Joshua Clausen, and Daniel Nass plus special guest composer Joe Horton. The collaboration between Spitting Image and 10th Wave will be released as a video production (36 minute duration) on YouTube followed by a live Q&A with Spitting Image and 10th Wave via Zoom. Spitting Image Collective is teaming up with Boston-based contemporary music group Hub New Music to present world premieres by Spitting Image composers Katherine Bergman, Joshua Clausen, and Daniel Nass. Called “contemporary chamber trailblazers” by the Boston Globe, Hub New Music is forging new pathways in 21st-century repertoire. Through creative programming and ambitious commissioning projects, the quartet of “intrepids” (WQXR) celebrates the fluidity and diversity of today’s classical music landscape. Its performances have been described as “gobsmacking” (Cleveland Classical) and “innovative” (WBUR).

Spitting Image presents Seen/Heard Trio
April/May 2018 Spitting Image Collective teams up with American contemporary music group Seen/Heard Trio to present new commissions by Spitting Image composers Katherine Bergman, Joshua Clausen, and Daniel Nass. Hailing from cities throughout the country, Seen/Heard Trio comes together to fuel their common dedication to fiercely compelling performances and persuasive story-telling through music. Mezzo-soprano Megan Ihnen (Des Moines, IA), flutist Erika Boysen (Greensboro, NC) and harpist Jennifer R. Ellis (Los Angeles, CA) combine the skill and musicianship of classical training with the fearlessness of new music adventurers, helping audiences find the joy and wonder in chamber music. |
Zeitgeist & Spitting Image Collective
May 2017 Spitting Image Collective is teaming up with acclaimed new music ensemble Zeitgeist to present new commissions by Spitting Image Collective composers Katherine Bergman and Daniel Nass alongside Cambodian-American composer Chinary Ung’s captivating work Spiral XIV “Nimitta,” commissioned by Zeitgeist in 2012. One of the longest established new music ensembles in the country, Zeitgeist has maintained a fierce dedication to the creation of new music for nearly four decades, commissioning more than 400 works and collaborating with some of the finest composers of our time. The members of Zeitgeist are: Heather Barringer, percussion; Patti Cudd, percussion; Pat O’Keefe, woodwinds; Nicola Melville, piano. |
