Programs

Concert Series
Spitting Image collaborates with musicians of the highest calibre to create unique concert presentations featuring new works by collective members and guest composers. Collaborators have included visiting ensembles such as Hub New Music and Seen/Heard Trio and local Twin Cities ensembles such as Zeitgeist and 10th Wave Collective. Visit our events page for information on our upcoming concerts.
Education
Spitting Image is launching two exciting educational outreach programs in 2017: a residency at the University of St. Thomas, and a collaboration with the performers and teaching artists of Stone Arch Collective supported by an Arts Learning Grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council. Spitting Image is composing new works for Stone Arch Collective that will be used in a new education program designed to introduce elementary and middle school students to new music through listening, performing, and composing. Supported by an Arts Learning Grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council.
Commissioning
Spitting Image commissions local Twin Cities composers to join in our collaborations and present new work in our concert series. New works are often designed to connect Twin Cities composers with their home town audiences and performers. We envision the Twin Cities community finding personal meaning and cultural significance in contemporary classical music by identifying with it as a reflection of our shared experiences. By commissioning contemporary works that are written from within the community that is intended to experience them, audiences are able to identify with the experiences of the composer and the meaning behind the work of art.
